Alaina's Column

I first agreed to do a column for this website about a year and a half ago, and now, a year and a half later, I’m finally getting around to it...the first word that springs to mind is procrastination. So, I figure since I’m new to the site, and since I’m not yet a regular column, I’ll introduce all of you readers to me.

My name is Alaina, AKA: Aidan’s next door neighbor. Aidan and I didn’t talk much when he first moved next to me, but now, it seems like I’m over at his house every other day. Aidan and I are strictly platonic friends. We’ve talked about what would happen if we dated, and, we decided it’s just not for us. Anyways, back to the information about me. I’m 18 years old, soon to be 19, and going to attend my first year at our local college where I will triple major in Secondary Education, English, and Geography. In shorter terms, I want to be a high school English teacher with geography as a side teaching. After I get a steady career path, I will receive my masters degree in all three fields. I want to spend the rest of my life in Georgia...I’m not sure why. I drove through Georgia once on my way to Disney World with my parents, and I fell in love with the state...granted that was in 4^th grade, but, still, if at 4^th grade I can seriously determine where I want to live, then I think its ok to still dream about living there. I love to read. I can read anything and everything, and even if I’m reading something extremely boring, I have to finish it. I hate the word ‘meal’, I’m not sure why, I think it sounds gross. However, I do have a favorite author, David Sedaris. I think a lot of my column is going to be about the books I read. Because, that’s basically all I do. I do play video games, but not enough to really rant and rave about them. However, I do love them. I also love guys. I think they’re great looking and even better at heartbreaking. I’ve recently been in a few rough relationships in many different aspects, so, I tend to shy away from guys right now.

I have a dog, his name is Dozer. He’s a sweet little guy. I’m gonna try and get Aidan to post a picture of him up in his gallery on this page, so, keep a look out for him. During the summer, my life revolves around my dog, we like to hang out. I’m usually loud. Get me together with a bunch of people, and I can guarantee that I’m the loudest one the whole time. The funny thing is, my personality makes it seem like I love to be the center of attention, however, I usually hate it. I feel like I’m a babysitter and I never have time just for myself.

That’s really all the information I can think up right now. I’m sure you’ll discover more about me as you read my column, which I’m not really sure what it’s going to be about yet. I’m thinking book reviews, advice, and just some humor all in general. I love to laugh, so, I hope you do too, because, usually, if I’m talking, I’m making people laugh...either what I say or do is funny, or I’m just making a fool out of myself.
